Installing XAMPP in Ubuntu 17.10

Step by step installing xampp and running on terminal or graphical panel

Step-1
wget https://www.apachefriends.org/xampp-files/5.6.20/xampp-linux-x64-5.6.20-0-installer.run

 

 

Step-2
sudo chmod +x xampp-linux-x64-5.6.20-0-installer.run

 

 

Step-3
sudo ./xampp-linux-x64-5.6.20-0-installer.run

 

after the installation create your project in

/opt/lampp/htdocs/[you project name]/index.php

 

 

To start server by terminal

sudo /opt/lampp/lammp <start/stop/startapache/…>

 

To Start XAMMP Graphical panel
you need to create desktop file and other dependency like gksu

First of all you need to install gksu with the following command:

sudo apt-get install gksu

Then, run:

gksu gedit /usr/share/applications/xampp-control-panel.desktop

and save the following code in the file.

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Name=PHP XAMPP
Icon=/opt/lampp/htdocs/favicon.ico
Exec=gksu /opt/lampp/manager-linux-x64.run
Categories=PHP;
Terminal=false
Name[en_IN]=PHP XAMPP
